Careers Education C.V. Writing

C.V. Blog POst Template

In CAREERS EDUCATION we have been learning to write a skills based Curriculum Vitae.

A skills based C.V. focuses more on the skills that we have,  rather than our work history.

Here is a link to our online Modelling Book that shows the process we have followed.

Three things that I have learned about writing a Curriculum Vitae are:

  1. That your cv has to be very net

  1. The cv has to be perfect

  1. ) That it's easy to get into a job if you write a good cv

For reading over the past five weeks I have been focussing on: reading lots of books

I can monitor my reading for accuracy and sense, demonstrating that I have the confidence to adjust my reading (e.g., by varying the speed of reading, by rereading, and by attending to the most important information) when I encounter difficulties.

I can make connections between my prior knowledge and the concrete examples in a text in order to understand abstract ideas in the text.

During this time, I have been reading with the teacher and also using an online tool called Read Theory to help practise these skills.

My two favourite texts I read were:
  1. A boy that has a pig and how mush he likes animals. I liked it because I like animals.
  2. A guy that does garden. because it was a good story.

Here is a screenshot of my Read Theory results

current events

Current Events Term 2, 2017

WALT: I can successfully research a current event.
Here is a link to our online modelling book for this unit of learning.

The National Standard that I have been aiming for during this unit of learning is:

  • Year ⅚ :  I can locate and summarise ideas by skimming or scanning, by identifying key words, topic sentences, and key questions, or by using subheadings

Each week we have read a short text about a current event/ topic. We then formed questions based on what we had read.  After this we researched the answers to our questions and finally we gave our opinions on what we had found out.

Here is some evidence of my learning.

Describe Map One link one

My Next Step is to continue to apply the reading and research skills that I have learned in a variety of other areas.

In ARTS this term we have been learning to:
Select and use techniques and relevant technologies to develop drama practice.
Here is a link to our online modelling book.

  • During this unit of learning we:
  • Described the characteristics of silent performances.
  • Identified different techniques used in silent performances.
  • Used these techniques in a variety of different practice situations.
  • Worked in a small group to put together our own silent performance.

The most challenging part of this unit of learning was to get all the things going well

The two things that I enjoyed the most were:
  1. I liked the they play we made up
  2. I liked that my team mates were good and not silly

The story that my group told silently. We were at the park and this kid was sitting down by the tree and we were playing with a fidget spinner and he cam and took it from us and we had to chase him.

Overall I think my group worked really well, because we worked has a team.

Evaluate statements made by others about the findings of statistical investigations and probability activities.

In the newspaper article, ‘Which Social Media for Teens?’ instgram, it was reported that young people are using different forms of social media than they did a few years ago.
Read the article below and comment on whether the reporter’s statements are consistent with the survey data.
Which Social Media for Teens? He has got the wrong the facebook thing wrong
It looks like Facebook is no longer cool amongst the teens of today.  Instagram and Twitter have taken over the most popular social networks among American children and these kids are ditching Facebook.
Research has shown that today’s teens are no longer using Facebook. Rather, they are using Instagram and Twitter. There has been a steady decline in the usage of Facebook, with all other social networks increasing in popularity. Surveys of 15,000 social network users between the ages of 13 and 19 over the past three years, gave the following results:

leadership article

Leadership Article Draft

What makes a great Physical Activity Leader (PAL)

Leadership is a skill of being able to motivate people/ teams to work towards a goal. There are 6 traits of an effective leader: Integrity, Trustworthy, Resilient, Goal focused, Active Thinker, Motivational. My key leadership role for 2017 is a PAL.
This means that I have to turn up every day it is wet and turn up every day and do my job.
In order to do this job you need to show leadership and be sensible and be active for the classroom you are looking up.

One of the leadership traits of an effective leader is being trustworthy. Being trustworthy means you be sensible and responsible and every time it is on you need to go talk to Mrs Patten and see what you need You need to see if your partner knows if it's on because they mind forget.

Being an active thinker is a key effective leadership trait. It means that the leader is able to solve problems and think when things don’t go according to plan lots of people have shown leadership like lot of people like Bill Gates. When Bill gates looked at any situation he developed a profile of all possible cases and looked at them in detail, he would ask himself questions about the possibilities that could happen.

My goal focused is to be a good leader and don't get kicked out and be responsible and trust worthy. This is someone her has role modelliing is Donald Trump he has showed it by getting present it is sometimes hard to get present you have to do a lots of work.

I have to achieve my goal focused i\I won’t  achieve my leadership role  and it is one way to get head boy and a leadership role like rata house captain and miro house captain and rimu house and khethiwe house captain.

In order to be a good PAL, I need to demonstrate effective leadership traits and work hard to do these well and be nice and trustworthy and dont be silly I need to be trustworthy, an active thinker and most importantly, show integrity.
